employee wellness initiatives
There is a growing sentiment among the American workers that employers are not only about employees as people, but only as an employee. The all too common perception is that employers have a" primary, and sometimes only focus is the scissors, how much work and the productivity of their employees as possible. While in many cases this is true in many other cases, it is only the perception, not necessarily the reality. Often the problem is not that the organization is unmotivated, uneducated but what resources are to demonstrate to employees that they in fact care about their welfare.
It is crucial to the employees show that they are as people, and workers second. If employees do not feel about the care, it triggers a chain of events that have a negative impact on employers and workers, including low morale and productivity, increased absenteeism, turnover and health care costs, and possibly a decline in worker health and Wellness.
The good news is that it is in fact a broad range of resources available, organizations can, and use them. Some examples include health information networks, traditional fairs and screenings, subsidized gym memberships and Employee Assistance Programs, commonly referred to as EAP's. These are all useful tools, although they often do not address the specific needs of employees. There is a growing trend for organizations, more gradual and targeted approaches such as online assessments that measure not only the current status of an employee of wellbeing, but also tools to help them, specific wellness goals that they consider themselves.
A good employee wellness program will also deal with stress management. A large majority of office workers cite on-the-job stress as a top concern, a problem that affects all levels within an organization. Stress management is particularly important because of the stress of working often in our personal relationships and life outside the office.
