Chillies have been used for medical purposes for more than 6,000 years ago by the Indians of the areas in and around Central America.
After its discovery by Columbus in 1492 and the subsequent distribution throughout the world, they were soon seen as a natural medicine by the cultures that adopted them. Why, for 500 years before the drugs were coming out from the local environment, trade or from any other environment. There was very little difference between food and medicine. That is something we now understand and as a result we see a return to natural medicines and therapies.
Modern medicine and science is now to many of the anecdotal health properties associated with chili and you'll discover a number of possible new uses as well. These range from the treatment of arthritis and diseases to the potential cure of cardiac diseases and cancer.
In the following pages we review historical and current knowledge about a range of issues, such as chili, and can cure or preventive.
While I am not a doctor of any kind, and not pretend to have that level of knowledge, I have a Bachelor of Science with distinction (Flinders University, 1991) and worked for two years as a St. Johns Ambulance Officer, trained to Emergency Care & Transportation certification. As a result, I can at least sort the facts from the hype and provide you with solid information for you, with your medical advisor.
OK, let's get started.
Chillies are inherently healthy. Fresh chillies are a good source of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E and calcium, iron, phosphorus and potassium. They are also high in antioxidants. The value of capsaicin (the heat in chili connection) as a tool for increasing circulation and strengthening the metabolism is well known and recognized by modern medicine as well.
First, a bit of science
Capsaicin produces much of its positive effects on the human body primarily through the interaction with neuropeptides; incomplete proteins in the body, a number of different functions.
There are three well studied neuropeptides, which are capsaicin and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), neurokinin A (NKA) and substance P.
These neuropeptides, when capsaicin-sensitive nerves by the presence of capsaicin. The neuropeptides signals to the brain, causing a physical reaction - Pain is one of those results, ie the heat you feel when you eat chili.
While we have the pain relieving aspects of these neuropeptides in our article arthritis, they produce different effects in different parts of the body.
Well, in relation to circulatory problems, this is where things start to be interesting.
One result that these neuropeptides to do is a process of vasodilatation, with a dilation (or opening) the blood vessels. This then results in our blood through our body faster without increasing blood pressure.
It is this increased availability of blood through the body, which is higher in energy in people, regular doses of chilli. Dick Quinn in his amazing book left for dead, the chili powder to heal from the heart and also significantly increased energy and warmer extremities as a result.
As documented by Dave DeWitt et al, in the healing power of Peppers, a working group in Wisconsin recorded impressive results from a group of volunteers. Of 124 people who live in cold, hard or swollen extremities, 85% a clear improvement. 2% reported complete relief.
To use chilli for Durchblutungsstörungen
In all of the above-mentioned studies reported that people have capsules filled with chili powder or chili powder and herbs. This avoids the hot taste for people who do not like it and of course for the blind studies, where people do not know if they were products of chili or a placebo.
These are from some online store pharmacies and health in most countries. A simple Google search to Find a good source for you. Generally they come in different heat and the basic process to start at the lower levels and work your way as your tolerance increases.
