va medical center phone number
" Today is a great hospital and medical center are in constant tribute to Walter Reed. " "
The above quote comes from a glowing report about the life of Walter Reed for the "Walter Reed Army Medical Center" is named. The account is a page on the establishment's own website. Latest news lead us to believe that today the plant stands in stark contrast to the life of the man whose name it bears. But this small article is not about the people, not even the possibility, but it is about the idea, perhaps, in the sense as a result of this latest example, which not only waste but also the attitude that seems to be in this task in the service of citizens.
The latest information about what happened, mold, poor maintenance, sloppy management of patients, for example, should be even more concern to me than many of the people who read this. After all, I'm retired military access to military health care system. But more important in my mind is the way in which these events echo some ominous signs within government today.
People whose only passion should be, at least to their elected or appointed positions, proper management of national funds and resources to ensure proper treatment of citizens, and the proper planning for the future, appear more frequently in the diet of their own nest than the condition of the walls of a citizen at home ... much less space in which a wounded warrior is waiting to heal.
These people, and I know for a fact that there are good people in government who do not fall into this category, which often seem more interested in maintaining the power and privileges they have achieved, rather than the action which the law and the most effective course. What makes matters worse is that often "" We the People "," little else but shake their head in refusal, that "someone" "Let this happen, and then we go with yet another shadow in our lives.
While the people in power who do or allow that those things are clearly and obviously wrong, there are others who are a part of the blame. "" We the people "are the ones who allow these people to acquire and retain their positions as part of their" services "in our name, without supervision, inspection or cry." "The people in Washington" ", or Tallahassee, or Sacramento, Austin or are present, with whom we serve, and it is in our ... at least on the will of the people with money and power enough to make their voices heard.
It is not surprising in view of the power of companies which use these large quantities of blood of the policy that is money that a person may be small, powerless, and at the mercy of forces over itself. However, just as the politicians to reach and hold their positions as a result of mass movements of people (or at least some of them), whether or not swayed by greed, compassion, ignorance, or hope, companies can dance on the willingness of the public. In fact, a common attitude of the two politicians and CEO's is the same, "" We are just them, what they require. "
It is for me, is the crux of the matter. We "the people" to choose (at least some of us) officials and then to our amusement and entertainment, so that they learn that they are not servants but are the ones in. There are two old saws that here in to mind. "" Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. "" And a simple reminder, "" Who monitors the watchmen? ""
The same is true for trade and industry. The leading companies in the automobile and oil companies, healthcare organizations, and thousands of other efforts will only do what they please, we are willing to pay. If we cast our money around so blind as we cast our votes, we may be surprised to wake up and find that we are the servants of politics and economics rather than the other way around?
While it was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center is tragic, and I speak as a citizen and soldier, even worse is the fact that you and I, the people who have joined the force to different things for the world, but on the appear to have been updated with more than just our personal worlds.
Last night in a stretch of two hours television inadequate, I saw ads for cruises, cars and casinos, among many other things, but I have not a single ad ask us better citizens and stewards of their own, or our planets, destiny. In fact, except for the occasional plea for aid to Darfur or ads from the Christian Children's Fund, I do not see much of prime time in a better world.
Oh, well! The boys in Washington will take care of that! Not my problem.
